Deadline to complete the form: 24th April
Please remember only one form per class!

Also I would love to see what the beach you are studying looks like!  Please post some photos along with the name of the beach, town and GPS coordinates and the graph of the monthly average Sea Surface Temperature. (Label: water). Thank you!!!

THE WATER INS Lluís Domènech i Montaner CANET DE MAR

Hello, we are Lluís Domenech i Montaner high school’s students in Canet de Mar.
We want to talk about our beach.
On 31st January of 2017 we went to Canet de Mar beach.

We used these materials:
  • ·        A camera
  • ·        Mobile application with geolocation
  • ·        Carafe of 5l for the sea water
  • ·        Thermometer
  • ·        Container for the sand
  • ·        A pen
This is our beach:
Imatge inserida 1
North view

South view

West view

East view

And last week we went to the laboratory to do some experiments.

The first had the aim to compare the diferent density of water.
The results are that:
Salty water is more dense than fresh water.
Cold water is more dense than hot water.

The other experiment had the aim to see convection.
When we put cold and hot water together, they form convection current cells.

And we studied marine currents in our beach
In our beach, the currents come from the Noth-East as we can see it in the photo.  There are all the currents near our beach comming from the North.

INS LLUÍS DOMÈNECH I MONTANER. Canet de mar

Hello from Canet de mar,
Here you are our presentation.

Hello
We want to study the ocean from Canet de Mar.
We are first of ESO students from the high school Lluís Domènech i Montaner and this is our beach.
And we meet every Tuesday from 16 p.m. to 17p.m. to develop science related projects and to learn new things.
Canet is a town on the northern Mediterranean coast, 40 miles from Barcelona. It’s famous because an important architect called Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
He built up lots of modernist buildings in Barcelona, such as “Palau de la Música”. He lived in Canet with his family.
We are also well-known because of a summer rock festival where Catalan musicians play.
Our climate is temperate, in the winter is not much cold and in the summer it’s not too hot. We are doing the oceans project to give information about our sea to the people from all over the world.

See you soon.
